No dense block of legal text you'd never read. Here is exactly what a Kittenry listing means, what it doesn't, and where our responsibility ends and yours begins.

1. What Kittenry is

Kittenry is a directory. We publish information about catteries so buyers can find them. That's the whole product.

We are not a party to any sale. We do not breed, own, board, transport, sell, or broker cats. We do not employ the breeders listed here and they do not act on our behalf. Any agreement you reach is between you and the cattery, and only between you and the cattery.

2. What a listing does and doesn't mean

Before a cattery is listed, we do the following:

  • Confirm their TICA or CFA cattery registration against the registry ourselves.
  • Collect health testing documentation and check it names their cats, comes from a recognised lab or named veterinarian, and is current.
  • Confirm they accept card payment by checking the payment method works.
  • Collect their written statement on how kittens are raised, placement age, vetting, and contract terms.

We do not do the following, and a listing should not be read as implying we do:

  • We do not independently authenticate laboratory or veterinary documents. We are not a lab and cannot detect a competent forgery.
  • We do not confirm that the cat named in a document is the cat being advertised or the parent of any given kitten.
  • We do not visit catteries or inspect the premises. We have not seen where these kittens are raised.
  • We do not supervise, monitor, or control any breeder's ongoing conduct.
  • We do not assess the health, temperament, pedigree, or quality of any individual cat.

A listing means a cattery met our published requirements at the point we checked. It is a filter, not a warranty. The full standard is public so you can judge for yourself how much weight to give it.

3. No guarantee, and no warranty

Kittenry is provided "as is." We make no warranty, express or implied, about any cattery, any cat, any information on this site, or any transaction you enter into. We do not guarantee the health, temperament, registration status, pedigree, lifespan, or fitness for any purpose of any animal.

Information is supplied largely by breeders and may be inaccurate, incomplete, or out of date. Availability, pricing, and program details change constantly and we may not know.

4. Legality is your responsibility

Laws on owning hybrid cats — Bengals, Savannahs, Chausies, Safaris and others — vary by state, county, and city, and they change. Early-generation cats (F1–F3) are regulated as exotic animals in many jurisdictions and prohibited in some. Even later-generation SBT hybrids are restricted in places, including New York City and Hawaii.

We label generation on listings so you have the information you need. We do not give legal advice, do not determine what is legal where you live, and are not responsible if a cat you buy turns out to be prohibited in your area. Confirm the rules with your local authority before you pay anyone. Any permits, licences, or registrations are yours to obtain.

5. We never handle your money

Kittenry does not take deposits, hold funds in escrow, process payments, or receive any commission on a sale. You pay the cattery directly.

This is deliberate — it keeps your card issuer's chargeback rights intact rather than routing your money through us. It also means we cannot refund you, reverse a payment, or recover funds on your behalf. If a transaction goes wrong, your remedies are with the cattery, your card issuer, and if necessary law enforcement.

6. Do your own diligence

You are buying a living animal, usually sight unseen, for a significant sum. Please treat our listing as a starting point and not the end of your research. At minimum, before paying anything:

  1. Do a live video call and ask for something specific and unplanned.
  2. Ask the breeder to send health results to you directly from the lab, or verify the order number yourself.
  3. Read the contract in full before paying a deposit.
  4. Pay by credit card so you keep your chargeback rights.
  5. Check your local ownership rules.

7. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Kittenry and its operators are not liable for any loss, damage, injury, cost, or expense — direct or indirect — arising from your use of this site, from any listing, or from any dealing with any cattery found here. That includes money lost to fraud, veterinary costs, the death or illness of an animal, and legal consequences of ownership.

8. Breeders

Listed catteries are responsible for the accuracy of everything they give us and for keeping it current. Supplying falsified documentation, selling kittens under 12 weeks, or a pattern of substantiated buyer complaints will get a cattery removed without a refund. Listing is not an endorsement by us, and it is not transferable.

9. Reporting a problem

If a cattery listed here didn't match what we've published, please tell us at hello@kittenry.com. We investigate every report. This directory only works if people tell us when we've got it wrong.

10. Privacy — what we collect and what we do with it

This site collects personal information when you choose to give it to us, and it is worth being specific about what that means rather than hiding it in a separate document nobody opens.

What we collect

  • If you apply as a breeder: your name, email, phone, cattery name, location, website, registry details, breed, health testing information, and anything you write in the free-text fields. Along with the documents you send us afterwards.
  • If you join the buyer list: your name, email, state, budget range, what you're looking for, and any notes you add.
  • If you post on the breeder board: your cattery name, the contact details you choose to publish, and the content of your post.
  • Automatically, with any form submission: your IP address, browser user-agent, and the page you came from. We keep these to stop spam and abuse, not to profile you.

What we do with it

We use it to answer you, to verify catteries, and to run the directory. That's it. We do not sell your information, we do not rent it, and we do not share it with advertisers. We do not run advertising trackers, and there are no ads anywhere on this site.

We do measure traffic, in two separate ways, and it's worth being precise about the difference:

  • Google Analytics, to see how people find the site and which pages are useful. This is a third-party service and it sets cookies. If you'd rather not be counted, browser "do not track" settings, an ad blocker, or Google's own opt-out add-on will all stop it, and nothing on this site will break.
  • Our own listing counts, so we can tell a breeder how many people opened their listing and how many clicked through to contact them. This one uses no cookies and no third party. We store a one-way scrambled version of your IP address for three days purely so the same visitor isn't counted twice in a day, and it is never readable as an IP address, never linked to your name, and never used to follow you anywhere else.

Buyer-list details are used to point you at relevant catteries. We may pass your first name and what you're looking for to a specific breeder when we introduce you — but only when you've asked us to, and never in bulk.

Where it lives

Submissions are stored in a private hosted database and are not publicly readable. Email sent to us is forwarded to a private mailbox. Anything you deliberately publish — a cattery profile, a breeder board post — is visible to the audience that page is intended for, and a listed cattery profile is public.

Your choices

Email hello@kittenry.com and we will tell you what we hold about you, correct it, or delete it. We'll action deletion requests within 30 days. If you're in a jurisdiction with statutory data rights — the UK, EU, or a US state with a privacy statute such as California — those rights apply and this is how you exercise them.

We keep breeder applications for as long as a cattery is listed plus two years, and buyer-list entries until you ask us to remove you or they go stale, whichever comes first.

This site is not intended for children under 16 and we do not knowingly collect their information.

11. Changes

We may update these terms. The "last updated" date at the top always reflects the current version. Continuing to use the site means you accept the current terms.
